Barak Benaryeh
Kitchen Confidential meets All Creatures Great and Small.
In this insider’s scoop into the veterinary world, Dr. Barak Benaryeh uses stories as a backdrop while delivering current veterinary information that every pet owner can use in the midst of a rapidly changing profession. Through Dr. Benaryeh’s irreverent, bitingly satirical, often humorous, and sometimes tragic stories, readers get to ride shotgun with a seasoned vet and hear a unique view of the veterinary profession, learning how to be better consumers. Come behind the scenes of an examination room and find out what vets really think and what happens when you walk through the “Employees Only” door to the other side.
From bringing home a new pet to recognizing emergencies, choosing the right vet, treating cancer, and more, Dr. Benaryeh’s advice covers a multitude of relevant experiences that every pet owner will inevitably face. Some stories are outlandish and not the kind you would expect in your ordinary vet book. They range from dead pets that aren’t dead, fake testicles, dog food mishaps, and other events that give meaning to the phrase: truth is stranger than fiction. Dr. Benaryeh also draws on his own vast experience with personal pets as the book moves through the life cycle of animals as well as his life as a veterinarian and pet owner. Whether you’re seeking veterinary information or pure entertainment, this book will not disappoint.©2026 Bloomsbury Publishing Inc. (P)2026 Bloomsbury Publishing PLC

Reseñas de la crítica
If your veterinarian were also a brilliant essayist with impeccable comic timing and genuinely bottomless compassion for both animals and their anxious humans, you'd want him to write a book. Luckily, Dr. Barak Benaryeh did exactly that. He made me laugh out loud and tear up while reading The Vet Will See You Now—his stories are fascinating and deeply insightful, his writing sharp and utterly alive. And lastly, I wouldn't take my two mini schnauzers to any other vet. (Amanda Eyre Ward)
Pearls of wisdom from decades in the veterinary trenches that will make you gasp, laugh out loud, and hug the unconditional love of your life a little tighter! (Dr. Nick Trout)
In The Vet Will See You Now, Dr Barak shares both the humor and humanity of veterinary medicine. I particularly loved the chapter ending tips, observations and snarky things which were informative and funny. This book is a must read for pet parents with a sense of humor. (Amy Attas, V.M.D.)
If you love your pets, you’re going to love this book! Filled with irreverently hilarious wisdom, soul-warming heart, and the kind of jaw-dropping stories that only a lifelong veterinarian can share, Dr. Barak Benaryeh has given us a gem of a book and the perfect guide to caring for our favorite furry companions. (Owen Egerton)
