Als der Winter dann da war, versorgte er den Tennenmooswald nicht nur mit unerfreulichem Wetter, sondern auch mit Problemen von unerfreulicher Größe. Da gab es zum Beispiel einen unglücklichen Hasen, der sich für ein weißes Nichts hielt, und ein unfassbar winterliches Geschöpf, das auf keinen Fall mit Klößen gefressen werden wollte. Ohne die unermessliche Weisheit von Biber und Specht wären Probleme dieser Art so groß, dass sie nicht nur im Winter, sondern für alle Ewigkeit ungelöst blieben.
