On October 30, 1938, rising radio star Orson Welles boondoggles the American public into believing that Martians have attacked Earth. Minutes before the fictitious invasion goes live on the air, a dead body is found in the studio and the polarizing Welles is the obvious suspect.

Events continue to unfold on Aerth and Earth. WWII in Europe has come mostly to a halt, although Germany is, as was the case in that time, behaving badly. The United States has come to Europe earlier than in our timeline, fighting on the ground in France. Not against the Germans, but against the dead. The machinations of Hagirr and Elianna continue to wreak havoc on both worlds, and while the two powerful wizards are lovers, they do not always share the same goals.

Three teams of warriors are on Aerth - two human, one Dwarven. All three want the Gate over Rotterdam closed, and all three are working separately to accomplish their goals. At the same time, the situation on Earth is detiorating. Germany is once again at war, this time with the Swiss.
