However, according to Osho’s understanding, the world has not changed but remains the same: upside down, crazy, insane. There are three kinds of problems - those that you create – they are almost ninety per cent of the problems of your life. You create them and you go on saying that you don’t want them. Ninety per cent of the problems simply disappear when you are in a meditative state – because you can see. And by seeing, you stop creating them. Ninety per cent will be solved; nine per cent will not be solved by your meditation but will be dissolved because they will not concern you at all.

The world needs workaholics; it needs people to function like machines. The majority of the population has always been poor, their survival dependent on their capacity to be productive. They have been taught to work and to work hard to produce more, and the rich become even richer. Society has lived under this insanity. The state of letting go, of being deeply relaxed is generally called laziness. Although it goes against a workaholic society, it is a basic requirement for sanity.

Today, humanity is caught up in the mad complexity of the mind and there is an urgent need to rediscover simplicity and innocence. This life is a gift from existence, to be lived and enjoyed. But with the seemingly impossible and conflicting demands of society, morality, and culture, people struggle with feelings of unfulfilled potential, frustration, and guilt rather than living full lives. The world of tantra has no division between higher and lower. The simple, ordinary things of life are transformed into great things when we enter into them totally - be it car fixing, floor cleaning or lovemaking. Osho shows how, by living this vision, new heights of consciousness and freedom are realized.

Osho responds to questions on "Relaxing and Waking Up" and "The Difference Between Instinct and Intuition". "In meditation you are not going anywhere. You are simply being here, relaxed, utterly centered in yourself. Everything stops. For this, no 'how' is needed."

Yoga is far more than a system of physical postures or techniques for relaxation. It is a science of consciousness that teaches us how to gather our scattered energies, live with awareness, and move toward our highest potential. According to Patanjali, the quality of our lives depends not only on how much energy we possess, but on the direction in which we use it.
