Der Schauspieler Friedrich Schönfelder las darin Grusel- und Kriminalgeschichten für Erwachsene zur guten Nacht vor. Bezeichnenderweise schlug er selbst 1972 der Unterhaltungsabteilung des SFB vor, eine Sendereihe zu starten, in der von ihm redaktionell ausgewählte Gruselgeschichten zu Gehör kommen sollten.
