In 1923, Achad published an edition of only 220 copies of a series of hymns or poetic devotions, in a manner slightly reminiscent of Crowley’s own emphatic style, aimed at adoring the Egyptian goddess Nuit (the number 220, being intended to align with the number of verses in Aleister Crowley’s own Book of the Law). Achad titled his own book, Thirty-One Hymns to the Star Goddess.

Crystal gazing can help the seer come into contact and communicate with intelligences of a higher order. He discusses the history of crystal gazing, how to get started, and what the seer can expect as well as difficulties and how to overcome them. He also discusses using this skill in ceremonial rituals. He references the methods of Trithemius and includes a section on John Dee and Edward Kelly's Enochian angelic scrying conversations.

It is a loving work of art dedicated to the memory of the author. Frater Achad was an occultist and ceremonial magician. An early aspirant to AA (the 20th to be admitted as a Probationer in December 1909) who "claimed" the grade of Magister Templi as a Neophyte, he also became an OTO initiate. He worked under a variety of mottos and pseudonyms, but he is best known under his Neophyte motto Achad (Hebrew "unity", אחד).
