Life Bites Series. Selfishness is not a very nice trait to have. The result of selfishness can lead to loneliness, illness, being cranky, having no friends, missing out in life, isolation and disrespecting yourself. Strangely enough it is selfish people that think they are generous and the generous think they haven't given enough. Selfish people always stand back in life unless something is free then they are at the head of queue, they become mean and calculating in everything they do.

Life Bites Series. We all need love in our lives whether it comes from our parents, best friend, significant other. We are a love based race, take love away from it and we are no better than robots or drones. Love makes us feel special and wanted and gives us a purpose. Love is a natural process as it is inherent within us. Some however find that love is a difficult thing to manage and become frightened that all may disappear.

We all get let down from time to time. Sometimes it is inevitable because of circumstances; other times it is because it is a deliberate action. Either way it is not very nice, although it is even worse when someone lets you down for purely selfish reasons. How we react other than being disappointed is literally down to us. Our thoughts and feelings come from the selfsame place; happiness and sadness come from the same brain. We need to respect ourselves and seek only the positive areas of life. Dwelling on being let down will only hurt you more than necessary.

Life Bite Series. The Chameleon Effect is when you try to be everything to everybody to please them or fit in. The problem however with being everything to everyone is that you end up being nothing to yourself and ultimately a disappointment to everyone else as well as they never see the real until it is too late, then they feel let down. People must love you for who you are and not what you think they wold like to see or make up some fictitious character that is not you then you do one thing and that is deceive yourself.

People will view us, judge us, accept us, or reject us based upon our attitude. Our initial concerns come from seeing someone else's attitude, which gets modified down the line the more we know of them. But if we have one inital meeting we can be a success or a failure in an instant. Our attitude is part of our "Shop Window" so if it looks shoddy or unkempt then that's how others see you. Of course everything in situ whether you are at work or at play you dress appropriately, but your character still remains relatively constant so a great assessment needs to take into account all mitigating circumstances.

One has to try and enjoy each day and offer no excuses as to why that can't be accomplished. Granted some days are heavy with certain burdens in life that we have to endure, but making them a feature of our lives is purely for the pathetic and stupid. We shouldn't "Postpone Happiness" either, saying that in the future things will get better or look forward to a future date - even if it is valid in itself. Every day is part of our life and we should, as such, make the best of it and be positive. If we start to make excuses as to why we aren't happy then we are on the slippery slope downhill.

It is imperative to keep happy, otherwise you lose the point to your whole existence. It may not be easy and no one presents that it is, after all we are all human beings with emotions that can sway us to and fro just by hearing about circumstances. We do however have a great deal of control in our lives and can override our immediate feelings to say to ourselves: "I can't control the events around me, but I can control how I feel," and thus do just that. Making life a better place from within has a habit of changing events around us and also the attitude of those around us, too.

We need to stand firm in life even if we are cajoled or bullied by loud and bombastic people or organizations that want you to do what they want for their purposes. Never ever be frightened to complain; do it in style as high as you can go and copy others in the correspondence so that everyone knows. Never ever be blackmailed by family, friends, or those who use "emotional blackmail" in trying to get their way above yours.

We should be comfortable with the choices we make for the right reasons. Granted not all choices offer a simple solution and degrees of compromise come into play unless you are a dictator or a despot. Assuming you are neither then there is a very wide range of choices you can make which can seriously affect your life to make it better or not so good.

Life Bite Series. We all at times go through some sort of struggle. It doesn't matter what it is, to us it is very real and we feel very much the implication of what that struggle means to us. Our struggle may be greater or lesser than those around us but that serves no place in how we feel nor how we deal with it. The good news is that we are far more resilient than we think we are and we overcome it all and come out the other end ready to join life on better terms than before, even if in somewhat different ways.

A concise look at who we are. We are a "product of ourselves" no other. Despite who we may follow or admire, what we might spire to, it is our decision to do so. so we have to take ownership of the end result. Blame Culture (another topic in the series) is not an option. Regardless of our upbringing we get to a stage where we think for ourselves, unless we choose not to, but that's still our decision. An interesting brief six minutes on who you are and how you can change it - if you want to!

Life Bite Series. Religions are a construct of God, whichever God you worship. God is the ultime in love. Where love exists there is no evil, it just can't be there in any form. If you worship a God that has evil and killing then ask yourself what is the Devil supposed to do? Religions have been amended, altered, changed, added to over the years and are now commercial aspects of God rather than what God offers.

We all like being successful, it makes us feel good and gives us a sense of accomplishment, too. But failure is a great part of our lives because without failure we gain no knowledge. All the major breakthroughs and developments in life have crossed over from failure. To fail is 100 times better than to have never tried. You get 10/10 for trying, you get nothing for not doing anything. Always feel pleased with yourself even if what you are doing doesn't come off. Never ever get despondent nor feel browbeaten.

At times we would all like to change our life or aspects of our life. We get into a rut or things don't quite work out as they should or circumstances change etc. Well, the only thing stopping us change is ourselves and not the excuses we hide behind.... We all have second and third and fourth chances every single day, we can if we wish alter our lives sometimes dramatically in an instant. For others it takes time, but change is by its own nature is an ongoing process.

Life Bites Series. We all get good fortune and at times not so good fortune thrust upon us, how we react and what we make of it is down to us. The vast majority of Lottery winners lose their money from silly spending within 5 years so with good things comes a responsibility and knowledge and not just acting like children in a sweetshop eating all in sight then getting sick very quickly.

Humility and pride: One can get you everywhere and the other can get you nowhere. It's a virtue to be humble as it denotes you have a high degree of grace and understanding. It doesn't denote being a "soft touch" as what you possess is of a value that needs no extra advertising. Those who are ego lead are quite the opposite, often suffering from a very bad ignorance and lack of self-esteem. There is a big difference between being proud of your children or some work you have done as opposed to being proud looking at life through a variable supercilious aspect that clouds others from your favour and even warrants negativity.

Life Bite Series. Bereavement is going to hit us all at some point in our lives. It is the one inevtiable thing that's guaranteed. How we think of death is partly due to our religion and the stilted morbid way that we have been taught about it. Yet if you believe in God then death is not that bad. If "love" was in the equation then it still existes even after death (escept in Islam where love is purely conditional).

Whatever happens, whatever prevails, whatever circumstances there are, you are still in charge of your life. Unless you are held at gunpoint which is highly unlikely then you make all the choices in life - even if it is a choice to follow someone else. If you do follow someone else as an easy option and it all goes wrong, then it's not them to blame; it is you who put your trust in them, even if they did something stupid. There's no getting away from the truth of the matter about yourself.

It's good to have nice memories, and with them often comes a few not-so-nice events, too, that linger in our mind - it's just the way it is. Time for most of us heals the past so that it is way down the pecking order of our thoughts and thus more recent events keep us bouyant and bright. Certain people and certain events for some however hold on to the past as if it is some kind of justification for life and gives them credibility, etc. Politically correct morons often do this as they are held back in the undercurrent of low life and worthlessness. Life moves forward, we don't have to look back because we don't go that way.

Self-created barriers are those that we have created within our own mind - for whatever reason, then we start to work within them. Often such barriers have no real relationship with what needs to be done but sometimes they form a series of parameters that subliminally stops one from doing something or taking risks or not venturing forward, so it creates a pseudo "safe haven", which it is not at all. Our thoughts and perceptions are important to us as we view life from such ideological places and thus if they are wrong or incorrect we lose out, often big time.
