Sal Lizard was in his 20s when his beard and hair turned completely white. Today, he appears everywhere from malls and parades, to schools and hospitals. And from his custom-made red velvet suits to the mistletoe that hangs from the rearview mirror in his Santa-mobile, he is Santa Claus, 365 days a year.

As an overachiever, Lania thought she could make all her dreams come true by working hard, but she learned that love and getting married before 30 were not variables she can control. When she turns 31, Lania moves to Albuquerque and confides in a new obstetrician who encourages her to consult a fertility specialist. Some days, she is eager to start the process to become a mother on her own, choosing a donor and injecting herself with hormones.
