Liam is king of the world and things have never seemed darker. As the Crucible Shard takes on a new prominence in the larger Universe, this brings new opportunities and dangers greater than any he has yet faced. Earth, too, is moving into this larger world and under the control of the Artificial Intelligences it would be foolish to underestimate their ambition. When battle lines are drawn, what side shall Liam choose?

Two years have passed since the fall of Octagon the Bitter and the dire warning from Order. The barrier that once separated the Five Kingdoms from the rest of the world is failing. Morgan is the first to encounter one of these invaders, signaling that the time has come for him to set out on his mission.

The North is under siege by Octagon the Bitter and his horde of twisted monsters. All but two cities have fallen and their forces are dwindling by the day. With little choice remaining, Morgan sets out on his own to try and convince the rulers of the other Kingdoms to join in their cause. Convincing rulers who have been at each other's throats for centuries will not be easy, and Morgan has doubts as to whether they'll even listen. Still, for the sake of everyone in the Five Kingdoms, he has to try, even if it costs him everything.

With a war now raging in the Central Kingdom, Morgan and Sarah flee east in an attempt to escape the growing conflict. However, there are many forces conspiring to stop them. Princess Katherine of the North sends mercenaries to capture them. Lord Simon, tired of waiting, hires the most notorious hit squad in all the Five Kingdoms to end Morgan, once and for all. With threats looming around every corner, and time running out, Morgan and Sarah will be forced to make several drastic decisions in order to survive. Especially after they receive a very dire warning....
