Anna Gudwin, Studentin der Kulturgeschichte, wird von BND-Ausbilder Mor aus ihrem langweiligen Alltag katapultiert. Unter der Tarnidentität Hannah Herold - als frisch gebackene Ehefrau von Sebastian - reist Anna nach Pakistan und tritt offiziell einen Job im Schiller-Institut an. Dort war ihr Vater Klaus zuletzt als Archivar tätig. Während Sebastian seinem eigenen ominösen Auftrag nachgeht, trifft Anna im Archiv den Institutskollegen Georg, der behauptet den Archivar Klaus Gudwin zu kennen.
