A small state is ruled by an innocent and kind-hearted king and his council of ministers. The king feels burdened by his domineering Chief Minister, who wants his sister to marry the king, further tightening his control over the kingdom. The king actually loves Neera, a scholarly young woman, but his Chief Minister keeps interfering in his love life. He quietly slips away one day, and walks into a barbershop to have his beard shaved off. And there he meets none other than Baburao, who looks very much like him. Baburao is a smart, down-to-earth man capable of teaching anyone a lesson.
