William Wymark Jacobs (1863 - 1943) was an English author of short stories and novels. Most of his works were either humorous tales or horror stories. 'A Tiger's Skin' is a tale narrated by the oldest regular at The Cauliflower. It is the story of the Claybury tiger... a beast which had apparently escaped from a travelling circus....

A slightly unsettling story of an elderly couple who find themselves in the possession of an enchanted Monkey's Paw that allows the owner three wishes. While this seems either a boon or a dash of nonsense to the couple they ultimately make their first wish. The result was perfectly aligned with their request, but the cost related to the answer was more than they bargained for. A classic cautionary tale about the unintended consequences of always getting what you want and the new chain of events that follow.

The Monkey's Paw is the classic American tale that warns listeners to be careful what they wish for. Both a tale of magic and of horror, a family is thrown in shambles after they receive a mysterious gift: a monkey's paw that can grant the user three wishes. However, their greed overcomes them, and they soon learn that what you wish for is not always what you wanted.
